Update 2: Project Explore

 

I found this but already had it. Even with an update. Oxford University courses. I found some better pics from the books. Pic 1 again from level 2. Boys probably called Jed, Fred and Alfie. There are also at least 2 girls, Lily and Elsa.

Pic 2 is from level 1. Surprisingly older kids/teens. Keira, Pablo, Viki and Ravi.

Some clips are animated. There are few live-action clips from level 2. Some on YouTube by Julieta Roldan. Also with the scene from my update. Clips are ca 1-3 minutes.

Very nice scenes, probably worth buying. Reminds me of Cornelsen's English G Lighthouse/Access.

Update: Speak Out

I found 2 episodes on YouTube (recent uploads from The Art of Film on 16mm). Pic from ep "At The Post-Office" (ep 5) Set in Alfriston/Sussex. FWU, Radio Bremen 1971, 25 minutes, showing siblings Jenny and Simon. Actress Sheila Raynor. No more actors credits. Director Nigel Whittaker.  

The other episode (6) is "At a Shoe Shop", with older actors starring Barbara New, Elvi Hale. Maybe he has some more episodes.

This was the 2nd German ELT series on TV and the 1st using VCR. Previously I haven't found any pics nor clips. Produced 1971. I think first aired 1972.

Fast Track English (Telekolleg II) - episode 19

Has been aired this morning (6.30-7.00 am in Germany, I often miss that this early). Episode "Getting Around" is about disabled people and disabled sports. Some scenes at an indoor pool also showing probably not disabled kids but from a distance. At least 3 younger boys, one in black swim shorts.

Sorry, I'm currently very busy. But maybe I'll find some more series for the upcoming school year.

There are 2 new uploads with 3 episodes. Or is this a subseries? Five Times Britain - The British Isles. One about London (pic 1, unknown episode, maybe ep 2, there's no episode with that title), pic 2 is about Wales, teen girls paddling (probably ep 3). Unpictured: Scotland (probably ep 4) shown in the second half of both uploads. Latter one not showing kids or teens. Touristic and industry (oil rig).

I now found a clip of that series, again by Rosa Mannen on YouTube. Aired on SVT on April 11th 1988 (but series is older, at least 1979). Teen boys and girls in school and gym/ballet including green shorts. Most are girls. Probably ep 1 A Stage School.

Playtime - ep 22 (Frog Went a-Courting)

 

Ep 22 At the Cinema has been aired last Saturday. In there was an animated movie called "The Frog" with a very catching tune. I previously couldn't find the title on either Wikipedia and Google. The plot is about a frog who wants to marry a mouse. There's also uncle Rat and a narrator, a singing rabbit as bard with a lute.

I was sure that this must be a very old, famous British folk song / ballad / bard song. I briefly searched on Wikipedia for bard music and searched on Google for a line of the lyrics (The frog would like to marry me, he offer). And I searched on Google for a song with aha at the end. No results on Google.

With some terms of the plot (bridal show, frog, mouse) I first found a video of a lady singing from the 1955 book. 

The song is a 1600s song (1549) with many versions. The book also has the musical notes. And it's not aha at the end but h'm - h'm.

Series Playtime has except the host no live-action but animation and puppetry. But I think it's quite good for learning English (aimed at young kids).

Double Trouble - ep 2

By coincidence, I also found episode 2 (Sorry, I'm late) on YouTube titled Double Trouble (1982), uploaded I think 9 years ago. Pic showing Bob at the shop trying to buy a guitar.

I haven't watched it completely, yet. And I haven't found more episodes.

Another part (episode 1) of this 6 part 2012 series. Missouri/San Diego. I found this pic and info some time ago on planet-schule. Surprisingly it's still there. Last aired Feb 2021. Movie was available up to July 2022. Sorry, I've seen that too late. But probably it will be rebroadcasted later.

15 yo teen boy Cullen lives in a rural town near Hermann, Missouri. He worked for a driving license. He wants to ride with his friends in his own car to play bowling. At school he learned farming.

Teens in the USA: San Diego: Justin - My first triathlon

This is episode 5 from Teens in the USA, 2012 (2 in the set of 3 about San Diego). It's about 15 yo Justin. I think for 7th grade.

Also showing him at technical education, and at a student camp of the US Army.

Was recently available on the planet schule website. I think this is rebroadcasted from time to time and still an active series.

Reports in English: USA: Irvine

This is an episode, part of "Reports in English - Canada, USA and South Africa". I think this subseries starting in January 2005 with Canada. It's still unknown when this episode has been aired and when it was filmed. Probably around 2005 as well but definitely before 2008. The main series with one-part documentaries starting in 1992.

I found this pic on planet-schule via archive.org (2012). Even there, many pages are missing, like the PDF film script (that from ep "My New York" still exists). On the other hand some few vids as downloads still working (not this one). From lists, there are often only the first pages. 

The plot description is only general about the city for the upper class. For 8th or 9th grade. 30 minutes.

Country Profiles: Norway, Rising from the Sea

 

Final one of the 10 episodes of this international ICEM production, this time 1997. 21 minutes. Production company:  Norwegian Filminstitute. Directed by Mona J. Hoel. (Som det stiger frem, et bilde av Norge), German title:  Norwegen: ... und steigt aus dem Meer. For 5th grade.

 

The movie showing the life of a typical farm family with 5 kids. Names are not mentioned. They don't have livestock any more. Dad working on an oil drill. Mom at a supermarket. Kids (who likes skiing) driving to school by taxi. At school there are kids from many countries. A moose stew is made for the birthday of one of the girls.

Another one of the 10 episodes of this international ICEM production, this time 1998. 20 minutes. Production company: Infomedia3Filming. Directed by Milan Ljubic. (Slovenske razglednice), German title: Postkarten aus Slowenien.

 

14 yo girl Jana and her brother living in capital Ljubliana. She likes collecting postcards. Her dad is a locomotive engine driver. They also visit their grandparents in Gorenjska.

As usual, a documentary about culture, work, history, spare time etc.

Country Profiles: Iceland (A Midsummer's Journey)

 

Another one of the 10 episodes of this international ICEM production, this time 1996. 16 minutes. Produced by Namsgagnastofnun, The National Centre for Educational Materials Iceland. All 10 movies were also available on 10 CD-ROMS. For 5th grade.

The plot is about Kristin living in Westman Islands in the South of Iceland with her parents and younger sister.She collects bird's eggs and bringing them to her grandparents in capital  Reykjavik. But they had to change their route. So again showing the lanscapes, farm, snow, etc. Her age is not said, maybe ~11.

Country Profiles: A look over ... Portugal

Another one of the 10 episodes of this international ICEM production, this time 1997. For 5th grade. 15 minutes. Director: Elisa Antunes. German version and material by Annerose and Rainer Hahn, Christine Lang. As usual geography, history, culture, agriculture, food, ecology etc.

11 yo girl Joana lives in capital Lisbon. On weekends she's often with her family in a cottage in rural village Obidos near a castle visiting her granddad. She has a little brother called Francisco and plays a recorder flute.

Another one of the 10 episodes of this international ICEM production, this time 1996. (Suomi Finland), German title: Finnland: Drei Schwestern.  1996, 19 min (3 sisters, everyday situations). 

Heini, Henna-Kaisa and Hanneriika living in a mid-size Finnish city Kajaani in district Kaynuu. This documentary shows their lives during one year. They have cows and sheep. Mother is a teacher, dad works in a paper factory. Change of Finland, technology in agriculture, high unemployment, hobbies, school, ...

Country Profiles: Adventure Austria

 

Another, 1997 episode of this 10 parts series. German title: Abenteuer Österreich. 19 min, 2 boys of Vienna (Lukas, probably pic below) and Tyrol (Peter, obviously in green on the right in city Steinach in Wipptal, Stubaital). Norwegian title: Land i verden: Opplevelser i Østerrike.

Geography, history, attractions, traditions (food, Christmas) and economy/ jobs (of parents) and differences between the alps and a big city. Lukas is dreaming of a holiday in the country. He also likes ice-hockey and ice-skating in Vienna. Also shown or talked about: Salzburg (Mozart), Linz, Salzkammergut,... I wonder, how they all put it in 19 minutes. I think English and German versions are on 2 different VHS. Not sure about the DVD and the Nowegian release. At least subtitles there.

Country Profiles: Heartland USA

 

Another, 1997 episode of this 10 parts series. Produced by The Phoenix Learning Group. I found some tiny pics (only this one from this episode) and the film text on the previous "Praxis-Unterrichtsfilm" site via archive.org and some more German titles.

The plot here is about Lee (originated from Korea) and Anne Roby and their family living in St. Louis, Missouri, a big Midwest city. Going to school, shopping, meeting friends,playing golf, ... 

They have another, older brother Seth, studying aboard. Parents are divorced. They moved from Iowa and Pennsylvania.

20 minutes. Co-production of ICEM (International Council for Education Media) ; directed by John Dallavis, produced by Barbara Bryant. Released on VHS and DVD. (VHS maybe bilingual, DVD maybe just US version). 5th grade. German Version and material by Rainer Hahn.
