Tiny Books - 1978 (audio) Book series, publisher Gjellerup

This is about the 1978 Swedish book series Tiny Books by publisher Gjellerup. Books have 15 pages and are illustrated. Mainly detective stories, aimed at ~12-14 yo. The books were also published as audiobooks on cassette, ~14-18 minutes for 2 stories, combined with "og". ISBN for the print books. I found this during searching more from Dennis Gotobed. Currently, I haven't found any cover photos. Books are not tiny (22 cm, but thin). Different illustrators like Mats Andersson, Måd Olsson, etc. Some details on Worldcat. There's also an earlier, unrelated Tiny Books series, probably not Swedish. Both Joan Tate and Dennis Gotobed also wrote "Minibooks", like  "New Hallo Everybody". Tate also wrote full books and translations.

Let's Learn English: Bob and Jane

This is a 2 part 1966 English course for schools (6 graders) by German publisher Crüwell with books, vinyl, audio tapes, 13 drill tapes for language labs and sheets. Sheets in 1974. The 7" record singles running at 33 rpm and have a light green cover. 2 records for each part, so 4 in total. I think some more for teachers.

Book authors are Hans Franzen, Helmut Heuer, Hilde Krüger and Clemens Radau. Illustrations (full page in color) by Ekkehard Geister. I think the plot is about adventures/everyday's situtations of Bob and Jane, probably siblings, like at a zoo.

"Let's Learn English" is a 5 part school book series. Parts 1+2 are Bob and Jane I+II, part 3 is "Welcome to London" with an additional reader "The Bridge" by Stephen Speight. Part 4 is "Welcome to Britain - Welcome to America" with readers The Bridge + The Matchbox. Part 5 is "Advanced Course" with readers The Bridge, The Matchbox and "You" also co-authored by Speight.

I found some samples of the books, but haven't heard the audios. So not sure if spoken by grown-ups or kids.

The Ballad of the Sad Cafe

Next to the 1991 movie starring Vanessa Redgrave (pictured as strict main character), there's also a reader in the Echo English Readers series by publisher Klett in 1981. Level d (difficult, so for grades ~11-13), text and study aids. The original novel by Carson McCullers was published in 1951. Romance set in 1930s Georgia.

I think for the echo series, there are also audio tapes (and maybe vinyl) available. Also sheets by Willi Real. In 1963 there was also a stage play.

I haven't read the book, yet.

Not sure about the following content, if there's also a TV series. (I previously found this title and 1976 elsewhere). I only found this on Worldcat.

I found it and it should be related to How to Get a Scoop.

Later I found a 1991 radio broadcasting (Schulfunk) series (of the same name). For 6th grade. 15 minutes per episode. Both are from WDR. Editor Stephan Piltz. Editor and maybe producer: Dr. Heide-Rose Verderber.

There are also radio series English for Beginners, English for Seniors (10th Grade).

2 episodes of English for juniors are about geography.

Plot (short): Mainly an audio course for the own transportable language lab, but also VHS in the (3rd) "Video Plus" edition. Audio course on reels, tapes, vinyl and shellac since the 1950s. Exact year of VHS unknown, mid 1980s. Pic from episode/unit "Family". Also for many other languages like French and German.

At least a French course "Holiday French" has non-studio scenes. 30 minutes VHS in there (+70 min audio).

Plot (short): Basic course for beginners. Series: Barcelona Video Teaching Services de España. Box 1 episodes 1-16 including the VHS, One book/box 5 is called "Your Teacher and You". Box 6 "Drills" contains a book and 8 audio cassettes for a language lab. Other boxes containing books and dictionaries. I don't know the contents of the videos. There is also a 1988 (teacher) course called "Power On! New Tools for Teaching and Learning" (published in the USA, obviously not the same).

(American) Kernel Lessons (AKL)

 

I think this is just a book series, originally started in 1969 by Robert O'Neill published by Longman and at least with (audio) tapes for language labs (lab drills). Also abbreviated as AKL +the level (e.g. AKL: Intermediate). Later reissued like "Kernel One". "American Kernel Lessons" published in 1978.

One famous story is The Man Who Escaped (24 episodes, 1979). Another one is The Rainbow Project (1999 ?).

O'Neill, who died in 2014 was a famous ELT author with ~30 books. In 1970 he wrote English in Situations.

At least one book (other series) was also made in a series: The Lost Secret. There were also some co-authors.

Interseting series, but I have to do more research.
