Update: Speak Out

I found 2 episodes on YouTube (recent uploads from The Art of Film on 16mm). Pic from ep "At The Post-Office" (ep 5) Set in Alfriston/Sussex. FWU, Radio Bremen 1971, 25 minutes, showing siblings Jenny and Simon. Actress Sheila Raynor. No more actors credits. Director Nigel Whittaker.  

The other episode (6) is "At a Shoe Shop", with older actors starring Barbara New, Elvi Hale. Maybe he has some more episodes.

This was the 2nd German ELT series on TV and the 1st using VCR. Previously I haven't found any pics nor clips. Produced 1971. I think first aired 1972.

Update: Here We Come (1974) clip found

It appears on my TOP posts and I found a new upload of ep 4 on YouTube (uploader Introkungarna). Very interesting. Producer and director Eskil Garpebring. So obviously Swedish origin. I previously only found a 1974 broadcast in Estonia and a 1978 re-broadcast in Sweden. Looks like an adventure series, here with a message in a bottle.

I have to check it more closely and upate my main post. Previously, I haven't found mush info. He also has similar early clips.

I just found 2 episodes on YouTube (recent uploads by mangelhausen). Ep "Roadside Assistance" and "Sunday in Suburbia" (pictured). Lots of sports in latter one (golfing, tennis, etc). Previously I haven't found any pics or clips. Director Tim Moores. Editor (WDR) Lothar Humburg. At least 1977 and not 1978. And just 3 episodes. No kids shown. Plot (short):  I found this on a Dutch database (tvenradiodb nl). No screenshots except a British flag. No more info. Aired in the Netherlands in 1978-1979. Not sure of the country of production (maybe UK) and so maybe produced and aired elsewhere earlier. I haven't found any info elsewhere.

Also mentioned in the 1979 book "Berichten en mededeelingen - Vereniging van Leraren in Levende Talen" page 443 and in a TV magazine. A book might have this  ISBN  ...  90 11 72309-0. Searching for that ISBN I found this 1978 book "Tackling texts. Part 3 publisher Educaboek Stam-Robijn" 9789011723092, 9011723090. It's on the same page there. so maybe related.I also found a 1972 book from this publisher including cover "Hijacked" ISBN 90-11-85131-5 which is inside a plane. Maybe this is related. There are just snippet views on Google Books.

I found a brief footage clip of this rare, very early 1974 series inside "Schulfernsehen und Unterrichtspraxis" (WDR 1976) in episode 4. Very good image quality. Not sure about the episode # of that series. Maybe ep. 1?. The teens are quite old, maybe at their early 20s. But there also should be some kids in other episodes.

In fact the very first German series with the use of video cassettes (VCR) at schools. Story by Terry Moston. Series first aired on Radio Bremen (RB).

Plot (short):  Different parts and books. Radio and TV series. Hosted by Dennis Gotobed (pic 2) aired in Sweden. I first found "Smile, Please" 1964. Another one is Time for English. Different grades and titles. One is Start : engelska för dig. 1, Radio- och tv-kurs för nybörjare. Finnish title: Start 1 : Radion ja television englannin peruskurssi. At least 6 units/books. Also used in Denmark and Norway. Obviously a typical basic course of it's time with a studio host and short scenes.

(American) Kernel Lessons (AKL)

 

I think this is just a book series, originally started in 1969 by Robert O'Neill published by Longman and at least with (audio) tapes for language labs (lab drills). Also abbreviated as AKL +the level (e.g. AKL: Intermediate). Later reissued like "Kernel One". "American Kernel Lessons" published in 1978.

One famous story is The Man Who Escaped (24 episodes, 1979). Another one is The Rainbow Project (1999 ?).

O'Neill, who died in 2014 was a famous ELT author with ~30 books. In 1970 he wrote English in Situations.

At least one book (other series) was also made in a series: The Lost Secret. There were also some co-authors.

Interseting series, but I have to do more research.
