Friends in London (Friends)

Friends (New Friends) was a 4 level course from Pearson Longman ca 2002. 16 units per level. A similar later course was Wider World (2017).

I have to check Friends later. At least New Friends also has CD-ROMs. One supplement for the first 2 levels (Starter and 1 or 1 and 2) was a VHS video Friends in London - Video. Plot: 2 friends tell each other about all the fun they have. (Can't say if boys or girls). There was a booklet (Video activity book) for the VHS, separate and as a pack with the VHS. Tests, projects, games, songs etc.

I haven't found details, length of the VHS nor screenshots or clip. I have to check the books, I only found book 3.

Pic above from the book, level 3, girls are Vicki and Kim. Maybe these are the 2 friends as there are also pics of them at Leeds Castle and at the airport.

Update: I found the same pics in course "In Touch" ca 2001. There is a combined CD pack for both.

Plot (short): A four-level secondary course for younger teens. American English. The oldest book I found is from Jan 2007 (2nd ed). Edition 1 is from ~2002 (Internet archive longman.com, levels and maybe no videos). Student books have CD-ROMs. And 2 teacher DVDs. (might be DVD-ROM) but contains video clips. DVD 1 is for levels 1+2, DVD 2 for 3+4. There are books with Language Booster and split editions (1A instead of A), split editions (levels 1-3). And a 2005 Power Pack edition with Audio CD and language booster (1st ed). There was also a test generator CD-ROM. Also included songs and (non-video) games.

Cover of level 1 showing Miami, level 2 New York, level 3 Texas, level 4 San Diego. One site stating grades 3-8 (8-12 yo) but looks rather for older teens to me (like the actors 14-15 yo).

Pics taken from the book level 2 (2nd ed). Pic 2 showing Joe, Diane and Alex (left to right). So probably on DVD1.

Some other screenshots on an older official website. Sample clips don't work anymore. At least 8 clips (per DVD).

The prequel is Wider World (~2017). Some parts were adapted from 1998 course "Snapshot".

Also used in Thailand (Thai edition).

Characters: Lori Hudson (15 yo), Karen Jackson (14 yo), Paul Chan (director, 26 yo), Joe (Joseph Sanders, 15 yo), Diane Sanders (14 yo), Alex Romero (15 yo).
